SOEL / ACCA Career Fair at the University of Macedonia

The SOEL / ACCA Career Fair titled “The Audit and Accounting Profession in an International Context” was successfully held on Friday, 31 October 2025, at the Ceremonial Amphitheatre of the University of Macedonia.

The event was co-organized by the Department of Accounting and Finance of the University of Macedonia, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Greece (SOEL), and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Bringing together more than 400 students, graduates, academics, and professionals from the audit and accounting sector, the event highlighted the career opportunities and global outlook of the profession, both in Greece and internationally.

Participants had the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the career pathways and benefits of the ACCA/SOEL Joint Examination Scheme (JES)

  • Network with leading employers from the audit and accounting field

  • Submit their CVs (CV Drop) and pursue interviews or potential job offers

The event was opened by Professor Stylianos Katranidis, Rector of the University of Macedonia, and Professor Christos I. Negakis, Member of the University Council, Director of the BSc in Accounting and Finance (English-taught Programme), and Director of the Postgraduate Programmes of the Department of Accounting and Finance.
Both academics emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities and professional bodies in bridging education and the job market.

Presentations followed by Mr. Sotiris Frantzanas (OEL, FCCA) and Ms. Andreia Stanciu, Head of ACCA Southern Europe, who presented the career development and certification opportunities offered through the ACCA/SOEL Joint Examination Scheme (JES).

This programme, delivered through the Institute of Education of the Body of Certified Public Accountants of Greece (IESOEL), enables students to obtain dual professional qualifications from both ACCA and SOEL, enhancing their prospects for a truly international career in auditing and accounting.

In addition, Dr. Sofia Panagiotidou, Career Counselor and Head of the Student Support Unit at the University of Macedonia, addressed the audience on the career guidance and employability services provided to students.

During the Panel Discussion, moderated by Professor Christos I. Negakis, distinguished professionals shared their insights and career experiences:

  • Zisis Psalidas, Audit Manager, Deloitte Luxembourg

  • Dorotheos Moutafidis, Senior, Financial Accounting Advisory Services, EY

  • Konstantinos Kontogiannis, FCCA, CFO, Skroutz.gr

The speakers discussed emerging trends, professional challenges, and opportunities in today’s globalized audit and accounting environment.

Following the presentations, participants attended a networking session with employers at the University Library, while the evening concluded with a reception at the Ceremonial Amphitheatre foyer.

The event marked an important step in strengthening the connection between the academic community and the professional market, further consolidating the partnership between SOEL, ACCA, and the University of Macedonia, and reaffirming the role of IESOEL in providing continuous education and professional development for future accountants and auditors.
