The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Greece (SOEL) and the Institute of Education of Certified Public Accountants of Greece (IESOEL) successfully held the annual title award ceremony on Friday, October 11, 2024, granting diplomas to METKEL graduates and professional licenses to newly qualified Certified Public Accountants. The event took place in the Grand Ballroom of the Grande Bretagne Hotel, in an atmosphere of emotion and pride, attended by distinguished speakers, state representatives, and, of course, the evening’s protagonists.
The event was opened by Mr. Apostolos Polyzos, President of SOEL, who warmly congratulated the graduates for their efforts and emphasized the importance of the Certified Public Accountant profession in ensuring financial transparency and stability. He highlighted the dedication required to reach this milestone and underscored the importance of consistency and commitment to the profession. “The technological revolution is transforming auditing and accounting, but the fundamental principles of our profession—integrity and independence—remain non-negotiable,” he stated. Mr. Polyzos also announced the renewal of SOEL’s collaboration with ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), reinforcing their ongoing cooperation.
Mr. Charilaos Alamanos, President of IESOEL, spoke about the institute’s successful trajectory and its crucial role in professional training. He highlighted the specialized programs offered by IESOEL, noting that since 1997, approximately 1,500 professionals have graduated, while more than 8,800 students have received training. He also emphasized IESOEL’s commitment to continuous improvement and its recent expansion with a new branch in Larissa, marking its nationwide growth. “IESOEL’s contribution to postgraduate professional education is invaluable,” he stated, wishing the graduates a successful career.
The celebratory evening featured speeches from key industry figures, including Mr. Panagiotis Giannopoulos, President of the Hellenic Accounting and Auditing Standards Oversight Board (ELTE), Ms. Kelly Benetatos, General Director of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, Ms. Helen Brand, CEO of ACCA, and Ms. Christiana Diola, General Director of Europe at ICAEW.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Georgios Samothrakis, a long-standing member of SOEL’s Supervisory Board, having served for 26 years, including three years as Vice President.
The joy and emotion of the evening were evident on the faces of parents, relatives, and friends who attended this significant celebration, marking the culmination of the graduates’ demanding journey. With the support of their loved ones, the graduates were rewarded for their countless hours of study and hard work, reaching this milestone in their professional careers.
An event dedicated to excellence and the value of professional training.
